U.S. History II-You have to complete a take home essay for homework over the weekend. I am giving you our test essay as a take-home. Make sure you answer both essays. I do not expect you to write a 5 paragraph essay, just write an essay as if you were writing on the test. You can use any source you would like but you really shouldn't need anymore than the textbook and your notes. Here are the essays questions:

U.S. History II-Listen to the Planet Money Podcast about ISIS linked below (you can also just search "Planet Money ISIS" in the podcast app on your iPad/iPhone).  As you listen you need to take notes on the podcast, your notes do not have to be long, I would say a half a page or so would be adequate. Then you need to write a one paragraph reaction to the podcast. In your paragraph you can discuss what surprised you, what you found interesting, what you think the U.S. should do about it, what you would do if you were living in ISIS territory or any other thought or reaction you have to it.

Term Paper

U.S. History II-As you know your term paper is due Tuesday, May 26th at the start of your class period. Your paper is due regardless of whether or not you are in school. As a reminder it must be 4-6 pages for honors and 3-5 full pages for CPI, double-spaced. You must also include a cover page, a citations page, as well as a final bibliography. Be sure the citations are in Chicago Style. Those last three obviously do not count towards the page limit of your paper. Your paper must be in Times New Roman, 12pt font, with 1 inch margins all around.  Also make sure you print out a copy to hand to me with your final checklist. Five sources should be used including one book. You also must submit the paper on www.turnitin.com. Here is the login info for your class:

3/6/15 Supermax Federal Prison Questions

1. Describe some of the conditions at ADX Prison.  What do you think of the conditions?

2. The 8th Amendment says we have a freedom from cruel and unusual punishment.  Do you think the Federal Supermax prison violates the 8th Amendment?

3. The Marathon bomber will likely end up at this prison if he is convicted.  Do you think life in prison at this prison would be an appropriate punishment or do you feel he deserves the death penalty?

4. Does this video impact your thoughts on the death penalty in anyway? Do you think this is as useful a form of punishment as the death penalty?

5. How would you feel if you or a family member had to attend this prison? What would your life be like? Does it sound safe?
